3 Hunter’s Moon hikes happening this weekend

A full moon on Halloween weekend? We couldn’t ask for more.

In folklore, the Hunter’s Moon is a call for — you guessed it — hunters to build up their stockpiles of food ahead of winter.

Mother Nature is serving up the perfect backdrop for Halloween. The Hunter’s Moon is set to rise tomorrow, Oct. 28, at around 6:48 p.m.

Here are a few hikes happening this weekend honoring the full moon:

🌕 (Almost) Full Moon Halloween Hike

Head to the Louisville Nature Center this evening from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for a guided moonlit hike ($15) in the Beargrass Creek State Nature Preserve. Wear a Halloween costume to make it extra spooky.

🌕 Moonlit Stroll Around Lake Nevin

Sip some hot chocolate before a leisurely stroll around Lake Nevin at Bernheim Forest tonightfrom 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. It costs $15.

🌕 Halloween Howl at the Moon Hike

Take in the moonlit prairie at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill in Harrodsburg, from 6:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. for $15.
