If you’re trying to add more hole foods to your diet, today is your day. June 2 is the first of two annual National Donut Days, and the crew at North Lime Coffee & Donuts is dishing out more fried dough than usual just for the occasion.
Kayla Hawkins, general manager at the Old Louisville location, said that last June the team served ~800 donuts for the celebration. That’s twice as many donuts that go out the door on a typical Friday.
Customers are usually waiting outside before the store opens, and the line is constantly flowing. But don’t worry — Kayla will be ready with extra glazed and sprinkled goodness to ensure the traditional options don’t sell out too quickly.
Pro tip: If you’re looking to get your hands on gluten-friendly flavors, be sure to arrive early as those are in limited supply.
Here’s everything you can expect on this holey occasion:
- A free donut coupon for every customer. Just make sure you get there on time — the Old Louisville location is open 7 a.m.-1 p.m. and Westport Village’s hours are 6 a.m.-5 p.m.
- A Willy Wonka-style giveaway where tickets for a dozen free donuts will be randomly hidden in to-go boxes.
- Specialty donuts, like gluten-free fruity pebbles, vegan blueberry cake, and sprinkle explosion. Peep the menu.
- Ice cream made with North Lime donuts + chocolate icing, created by and available at Louisville Cream.
