On Monday, Mayor Craig Greenberg, Metro Council President Markus Winkler + Louisville Parks and Recreation staff cut the ribbon on the newly renovated Berrytown Park and Recreation Center.

Acquired by the city in 1970, the park is located just outside of Anchorage and has always been home to ballcourts, fields, picnic shelters, and walking paths — but now there’s more.

Thanks to funding from the American Rescue Plan and the deferred maintenance budget from the 2024 fiscal year, the park has a new, more accessible look.

Here’s a list of the park’s upgrades:

  • A new ADA accessible playground with a jungle gym and slides, companion swing, and an interactive glider for wheelchair users
  • Newly paved walkways
  • Renovated basketball court with new surfacing + goals
  • New HVAC system for the rec center

Bonus: Berrytown Park is just one of 120 parks and six parkways managed by Louisville Parks and Recreation. Check out our guide to more of Louisville’s extraordinary parks.
