Gill up, Louisvillians, fish fry season is upon us. Whether you’re observing Lent — which started Wednesday, Feb. 18 — or just love a good piece of fried fish, here are six spots to indulge. If you don’t see a place near you, check out this full list from the Archdiocese of Louisville.

Mike Linnig’s Restaurant

Located on the banks of the Ohio, this restaurant has been serving the classics — think: fried white fish, frog legs, and onion rings — since 1925. Drop in Tuesday-Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday-Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 12 to 9 p.m. During the Lenten season, you can enjoy your fish with live music in the enclosed patio. Keep an eye on Facebook for the lineup of local musicians.

Good Shepherd Church Lenten Fish Fry

Grab an award-winning fish dinner plus oysters, sides, and pizza every Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. through March 27, plus raffles, pull tabs, and a cake wheel.

Bonus: If you’ve ever wondered why there are so many fish fries in Derby City, listen to this episode of Louisville Public Media’s “Curious Louisville.”
