News Notes

Plan Ahead

This year, Legend at Pope Lick will combine its annual Goatman Festival and Baby Goat Experience into one big goat-stravaganza. The event will run Thursday, Oct. 15-Sunday, Oct. 18 and feature all the horror staples of the Goatman Festival, plus opportunities to meet exotic goat breeds.

Mansion Monday

A private dock, a tennis court, an attached three car garage, and a pole barn: All this and more await you at this 3,000+ sqft home off Chenoweth Run Road.

Derby

In case you missed it, this year’s Woodford Reserve Derby Bottle is out. The bottle features artwork by Chicago-based UofL grad Anna Murphy, whose work often uses delicate shades of blue reminiscent of porcelain. It’s available in store or online.

Seasonal

After losing an hour of sleep this past weekend, it’s time to make it worth it. Now the sun is setting after 7 p.m. again, we can spend more time exploring Louisville’s beautiful parks. If you need some inspo, our events calendar will be full of outdoor fun for the foreseeable future.

Pets

Why did the chicken cross the road? To become friends with a pack of dogs, apparently. You could recreate Stevie’s remarkable story with our guide to owning chickens in Louisville. (The Guardian)

Sports

The 2026 World Baseball Classic is underway, with Team USA set to play their first game today, March 6, against Brazil. Want to catch America’s pastime closer to home? See what ballpark promotions the Bats have lined up after this month’s home opener.

Film

Cue the theme music. Warner Bros. is planning a film adaptation of “Game of Thrones,” set 300 years before the events of the iconic series. While we wait, Louisville’s museums are the closest things we’ve got to a Westeros-bound teleport. (The Guardian)

Giveaway

Need a vacation? We feel you. Our recommendation? Enter our Fly Away Friday Giveaway. There are only four days left to enter for a chance to win two round-trip airline tickets out of Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF). Good luck.*

$0. That’s how much 94% of Nourish patients pay out of pocket to talk to a dietitian covered by their insurance. You could be covered, too — check your coverage + get matched with a dietitian who can cut through the food noise and build you a plan to thrive.*

The Buy

Travel-size mouthwash you can take anywhere. Perfect for vacations, tossing in your purse, or keeping in the glovebox, this TSA-approved, top-rated mouthwash comes in portable pouches so you can freshen up anytime, anywhere. Bonus: It’s alcohol-free and safe for sensitive teeth.

The Wrap

I’m a sucker for a good book sale, despite already having more books than I’ll probably ever read. I always seem to find something I’d never buy new.

If you’re interested in supporting the Friends of the Library beyond the book sale, consider joining the organization directly.
