Last October, we highlighted a chance to experience a day of art all themed around the letter B: visiting the Bosch and Bruegel exhibit at the Speed Art Museum, followed by a concert of Beethoven and Brahms music. That exhibit has now closed, but the Louisville Orchestra is back with another bold bout of beautiful beats this Friday, Feb. 6.
The orchestra will perform Max Bruch’s Violin Concerto No. 1, followed by Anton Bruckner’s Symphony No. 4 at Ogle Center at IU Southeast in New Albany. Teddy Abrams will be conducting, with Assistant Concertmaster James McFadden-Talbot as featured violinist of the evening. Get your tickets now.
Louisville Metro Government has signed a Letter of Intent to purchase a 92-acre piece of property off Dixie Highway for the construction of a new first responder training facility. The final decision to proceed with the deal will be made by late May. (Louisville Public Media)

Bosch and Bruegel have bounced, but there are still plenty of artists with B names on display at the Speed Museum.
If you want to pregame your night of Bruch + Bruckner with some visual art, consider “Danuta and Burnt Pine” by Deborah Butterfield, and be sure to come back in May when Betsy Shack Barbanell is featured as part of an exhibit on women of the abstract movement.
