Last week, I received an email from a reader asking about genealogy resources in Louisville. If you’re looking to do a little family digging, here are some places to start:
ROOTS 101 Family Legacy Center | This new service by the downtown museum includes access to a database called FamilySearch. You can sign up online for a 30-minute free session.
LFPL | Library cardholders can access historical maps and other documents to help piece together the puzzle.
Know of another resource I missed? Reply to this email and let me know.
Preliminary renderings are here for Mid City Market, the planned development for the current Mid City Mall site. Developers say the area will include a grocery store, a library, and a new public green space. The next opportunity for public engagement will be a Highlands Commerce Guild meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 28.

Earlier this month, I saw the new Gus Van Sant movie “Dead Man’s Wire” in the theater. A kind reader sent me an email to let me know that Van Sant wasn’t the only local involved in the production. Daniel R. Hill plays Tony’s brother in the film, and also got his start right here in town, including performing with Kentucky Shakespeare.
