Dancing snowmen are just some of what you’ll see in the caverns.

One of Louisville’s biggest holiday traditions is back in action. Lights Under Louisville opened over the weekend, and will run through Saturday, Jan. 3. Here are some pro tips to make the most of your Mega Cavern holiday extravaganza:
You can drive your own car through, but the Holiday Express takes you on the same route in an open vehicle so you can see the lights unobstructed. Plus, nobody in your party has to focus on driving — everyone can enjoy the show.
There’s more to see in the cavern than the lights. A gift shop and small cafe — yes, they have hot chocolate — are open during the light show. You can also check out the ropes course or the zipline.
The traffic leading to the cave can get tight. Fortunately, it’s just as dark in the cave at 10 a.m. as it is at 8 p.m. Consider going during the day to beat the lines.
