Halloween week is almost here, and that means it’s time to start scouting. Whether you’re a parent looking for the best place to take your kiddos on the big night or you want to make sure your neighborhood gets the attention it deserves, we’ve got you covered.

News Notes

Civic

A public comment period is open for a number of LMPD policies, including performance review boards and use of force. Whenever the department revises a policy, it publishes a summary of the changes and opens a 10-day public comment period, which ends on Monday, Nov. 3.

Cause

Anchal will celebrate its 15th birthday on Saturday, Nov. 15th with installations and sales at its Shelby Park location. Don’t know the Anchal story? Check out our interview with co-founder Colleen Clines.

Legacy

Work the Metal will host a celebration of life in honor of its late co-owner Jack Mathis on Sunday, Nov. 2. The celebration runs 1-5 p.m., with a service at 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donate to the Norton Cancer Institute.

The second Maya Bagel location is set to open by the end of the year in the former KFC location on Preston Highway near Eastern Parkway. It will be the shop’s new flagship location + serve specialty coffee as well as bagels for breakfast and lunch. (Louisville Business First)

Concert

This year’s “Brown-Forman Nutcracker” by the Louisville Ballet will feature the return of a live orchestra for the first time since 2022. The Louisville Orchestra will be performing Tchaicovsky’s iconic score. Tickets are on sale now.
