Autumn is officially here — but fall colors, we’re just starting to spot you.
If you’ve been on the lookout for red, yellow, and orange leaves in Louisville, you won’t be waiting too much longer. According to smokymountains.com fall foliage predictions, leaves in the Louisville area are starting to lose their chlorophyll — the compound responsible for their green color. Here’s a timeline of when to expect the best colors:
Week of Oct. 6: Leaves have begun to change, expect sporadic fall colors
Week of Oct. 20: The leaves will be nearing their colorful peak

The ramps from I-71 South to I-65 South and I-64 West to I-65 South will be closed this weekend, starting Friday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m., and reopen early Monday morning. (WHAS11)

Speaking of road closures... There will be a town hall meeting about next year’s I-65 closure on Monday, Oct. 20 at the Main Branch Library from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Outdoors
The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife is asking hunters and other people spending time outdoors to report suspicious behavior or deaths in deer and elk. Chronic Wasting Disease and Hemorrhagic Disease are both present in the state, and officials are seeking help to track them. (LPM)
Go stargazing tonight. The Draconid meteor shower is expected to peak this evening after dusk. Under ideal conditions, it’s possible to see about 10 meteors per hour. (WCNC)
