Calling all Derby City sleuths

A map of Louisville with colorful sections illustrating each neighborhood, labled "Germantown," "Cherokee Seneca," and more.
Settle all debate over exactly which neighborhood you live in with this tool. | Map via LOJIC
Have you ever passed a mystery construction site and wondered, “What are they building?” Or wanted to know who actually owns that abandoned house on the corner? If so, this is the tool for you.

Enter The Louisville/Jefferson County Information Consortium, or LOJIC, a multi-agency partnership that provides mapping services for the entire county.

How to play detective

  • Start simple with the LOJIC Online map. Type in any address to find out who owns it, exactly how big it is, and how much it’s worth.
  • Use the Layers function to reveal more info, like how a property is zoned or where the sewer lines flow.
  • If you’re ready for a deeper dive, check out one of LOJIC’s other curated maps. Find a new bike route, see all the short-term rentals in your neighborhood, or see the official boundaries of each neighborhood.

Correction

In yesterday’s newsletter, we told you all about the Kentucky Opera’s Amplify Songs of Justice event — a free concert commemorating Juneteenth. This concert will be held on June 19, which is a Thursday, not a Friday as we reported yesterday.

Post of the Day

Look out My Morning Jacket + Jack Harlow, Louisville might have a new top music act.

The Jellyfish are a band of 8th graders who play covers of classic rock tunes. We particularly loved their rendition of Led Zepplin’s “Immigrant Song” — a warning for totally rad flashing lights.

The Jellyfish played a rainy show at the Mellwood Tavern this weekend, and their set list included this cover of “Enter Sandman.”

The Wrap

Today’s edition by: Declan

Last week, I had a chance to visit Hermitage Farm to sample bites from Barn8‘s new summer menu, assembled by the new head chef, Oscar Bello.

If I had to recommend one thing on the menu, it would have to be the canestri pasta with pecorino fonduta — but everything is delicious.
A bowl of yellow pasta with red peppers bread crumbs and shredded cheese.

This canestri might be the best pasta I’ve ever eaten in my entire life.
