Development around Lynn Family Stadium is set to officially begin; yesterday, officials announced a mixed-use project headed just east of the stadium in Butchertown.

Soccer Holdings, LLC — the parent company behind Louisville City FC and Racing Louisville FC — said that Denton Floyd Real Estate Group and LDG Development will work on the Butchertown Apartments development.

What to expect

Limited details have been released, but the development is set to include 200 apartment units (128 one-bedrooms and 72 two-bedrooms) + dedicated retail space on the first floor. The apartments will also feature amenities like a clubhouse and on-site parking.

A similar, $250 million development is currently proposed near Slugger Field.

...We look forward to continuing our work with city officials toward making the stadium and its amenities even more of a destination for Louisville,” said Shane Uttich, chair of Soccer Holdings’ stadium district development committee.

Cheering on Los Murcielagos

Minor League Baseball fans know that baseball season means it’s time for Copa de la Diversión (or “Fun Cup”) — a season-long event series designed to “connect teams with their local US Hispanic communities.”

For special games and events, the Louisville Bats transform into Los Murcielagos de Louisville. The Murcielagos logo features a Cuban Greater Funnel-eared Bat in a Mesoamerican art-style.

This year, 92 MiLB teams will compete to be crowned campeón based on ballpark experience, community engagement, and philanthropic impact.

Help Los Murcielagos win by attending events and cheering them on at one of these upcoming games:
Just be sure you’re representing your team in style.

The Wrap

Don’t hate me, but I’ll be stealing two Louisvillians from your city this weekend (my cousin + her wife) as they visit me in the Windy City. But try as I might, they would never root for the Cubs over the Bats. Must be something to do with Louisville’s deep connection to the sport.
