Bourbon & Beyond and Louder Than Life are still more than eight months away, but festival organizers are already releasing lineup information and savvy festival-goers know it pays to plan ahead.

If the anticipation is killing you, here’s what you need to start prepping:

When is Bourbon & Beyond?

Bourbon & Beyond 2025 will be held at the Highland Festival Grounds from Thursday, Sept. 11 through Sunday, Sept. 14. Here’s some need to know info:
  • General admission passes don’t allow you to bring a chair — you’ll have to buy a Lawn Chair pass, which will be on sale when the lineup is finalized. All proceeds from the Lawn Chair pass go to local nonprofits.
  • It pays to buy early. Prices increase as more tickets are sold. Prices will rise in five stages, from the current $279.99 for four days of general admission to a final price of $359.99 for the same pass.

News Notes

Eat

Pho by any other name... Pho Ba Luu is now MoonDog, with a redesigned menu. Expect to see many of the same food options, but with the addition of wings, pho-spiced fries, and new drink options. Celebrate the NuLu joint’s grand reopening, and the Lunar New Year, on Wednesday, Jan. 29. (Courier Journal)

Biz

Grady Goods will move into the former Sis Got Tea location on Barret Avenue this month as the tea shop continues a search for a new permanent home. The owner, Arielle Clark, is looking for a larger, more accessible storefront with a bigger event space. (Louisville Business First)

The Word

A “sneckdown,” or snowy neckdown, is a pattern that emerges in snowy weather showing how much space cars actually use. See Louisville’s own Beargrass Thunder demonstrate how the snow and ice can show more optimal ways to redesign Derby City’s roads.

Arts

The 5th annual Ripple Effects Photo Contest will kick off this Sunday, Jan. 26 at the Main Branch library. Students from kindergarten through high school can submit a photo centered around water, along with a short reflection, by Sunday, May 18 for a chance at a cash prize.

Film

It won’t be this cold forever. You can now cast your vote to help select movies for the 2025 Saurbeck Family Drive-In. The outdoor theater is closed now, but will reopen on Fridays and Saturdays as soon as snow melts.

Sports

Louisville men’s basketball cracked the AP Top 25 poll for the first time in four years. Get game coverage, analysis, insights, interviews and more from local experts of the Cards with Locked On’s daily podcasts.

Finance

Financial grace periods are few and far between these days. Oil checks, doctor appointments, Tax Day — time speeds by between them. But these credit cards allow you nearly two years to pay them off (with zero interest), allowing you flexibility in 2025.*

Earlier this month, we brought you headlines from the future in honor of Generation Beta — babies born in 2025 will be members of the first generation where a majority of its members will live to see the 22nd century.

We also asked you for your predictions on Derby City, 2101. Here’s what you had to say:

“My hope is that Louisville is one of the top run cities and universities in Kentucky. I think we have so much potential and we’d be fools to just throw that away to other cities. It takes great leadership to make that happen. Louisville sports will still be a talking point. I think this will still be a haven for jobs both big and small.” — Josh H.

“Successful (dare I say maybe even a professional?) sports teams.” — Morgan R.

“The 800,000th “X’s Louisville” banner goes up.” — Emily K. (This year, LOU made a small step closer to that number.)

    The Buy

A really good beanie. With 4,000+ five-star reviews, this warm winter beanie is a favorite for a reason: the inside is lined with satin, which absorbs less moisture and causes less friction than other materials, keeping hair nourished and frizz-free.
