A Louisville home that made headlines in 2009 when it was designed by a local architect is now for sale.
Listed for $899,000, the home at 1824 Eastern Pkwy is a modern marvel nestled in one of Louisville’s oldest and most popular neighborhoods — the Highlands.
Here are the specs:
Two bedrooms + four bathrooms
Oak hardwood floors
Floating staircase
Designer features + appliances throughout the house
3,562 sqft over four levels
A theater room, featuring a 4K laser projector, 133-inch screen, and 13 built-in wall speakers + subwoofer
A two-car steel carport, featuring a Tesla electric car charger that also serves as a rear deck
In 2009, the home’s owners, Bob German + Brent Carter, hired architect Michael Koch to renovate the house, using the original foundation the home was built on.
Koch spoke about his book + career at the Filson Historical Society in 2022 — he even specifically discussed the “German Carter House.”

NuLu’s newest boutique is set to open just in time for the holiday season — and it has us saying, “Oui, oui.”
Le Lieu will offer fashions, home decor, and self-care products, as well as a floral design studio, which will host seasonal workshops and floral design classes.
Located in a 3,000-sqft space on Shelby Street directly across the street from Clayton and Crume, the boutique is also planning a champagne speakeasy bar, which will open in spring 2025.
Le Lieu — which means, “the place” in French — will host its grand opening on Saturday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., in conjunction with the NuLu Jinglefest. It will include complimentary champagne, food, and other beverages.
The first class at the floral design studio will be a holiday wreath-making workshop, Dec. 5 through Dec. 8.
