Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport (SDF) just made getting your luggage easier
These improvements are part of the SDF Next Program, a capital improvement program for the Jerry E. Abramson Terminal that will see upwards of $500 million invested to provide a better customer experience. | Photo provided by Louisville Regional Airport Authority
The last thing you want to do after a flight is spend extra time waiting to get your bag. Luckily for Louisvillians, SDF is addressing that problem.
As passenger travel reaches record numbers, SDF is continuing to improve the terminal to provide best-in-class facilities. SDF’s complete overhaul of the airport’s baggage handling systems is expected to be fully operational just in time for post-Thanksgiving travel.
This $10 million project, which kicked off in May, includes a redesign of the baggage claim area with four modern, state-of-the-art carousels as well as the addition of an oversized bag drop.
Black Friday — a day kicking off the gift-giving spirit of the holidays with local and national sales. If you’re one who likes to sleep in and haven’t had a chance to hop into the shopping lines yet, we suggest checking out Misc. Goods Co. for 45% off select items or Made Market to shop from ~100 local vendors.
Seasonal
Are you heading to Jefferson Square Park tonight? Not so fast. Louisvillians have become accustomed to attending Light Up Louisville on Black Friday. This year, though, it’s taking place on Saturday, Dec. 2. The event’s producer Wayne Hettinger said the change was made so that the event’s workers can spend time with family. (WDRB)
Sports
Tomorrow is one of the biggest days on the local sports calendar, The Governor’s Cup. Louisville will host Kentucky on the football field at 12:00 p.m. The game is sold out, but will be broadcast on ABC. The Cardinals have lost to the Cats in four consecutive meetings, and we’re hoping to change that this year. (The Courier Journal)
Closing
Funmi’s Cafe shut its doors after 13 years in business. Located in the Gardiner Lane Shopping Center on Bardstown Road, Funmi’s served African food, like African brown beans and West African collard green stew. The owners said that they’re retiring from the food industry.

Happy birthday, LOUtoday member Paul Herberg. We hope your special day (November 26) is filled with your favorite things in Louisville! — LOUtoday team
In my house, the day after Thanksgiving is the first day of the holiday season. That means the Christmas tree, stockings, and holiday decor is all going up. As you read this, I’m probably either buried in tinsel or checking every bulb, Clark Griswold style.
