How to celebrate baseball with Copa de la Diversión

Minor League Baseball fans know that baseball season means it’s time for Copa de la Diversión (or “Fun Cup”) — a season-long event series designed to “connect teams with their local US Hispanic communities.”

For special games and events, the Louisville Bats transform into Los Murcielagos. The Murcielagos logo features a Cuban greater funnel-eared bat in a Mesoamerican art-style.

Copa de la Diversión began in 2017 with four teams in Charlotte, Durham, Visalia, and Las Vegas. The next year, it expanded to 33 teams and added a little competition. The 2018 winner? The attendance-record-breaking Mariachis de Nuevo México in Albuquerque.

This year, 90 MiLB teams will compete to be crowned campeón based on ballpark experience, community engagement, and philanthropic impact.

Help Los Murcielagos win by attending events and cheering them on at one of these upcoming games:
  • Los Murcielagos vs Nashville Sounds | Friday, July 14 | 7:15 p.m.
  • Los Murcielagos vs Iowa Cubs | Friday, Sept. 22 | 7:15 p.m.
Just be sure you’re representing your team in style.

From the editor
I almost shared a really great affogato reel — I love an affogato — only to realize it was being shown to me from Florence, Italy. Well, if you don’t want to take a very long road trip across the ocean, I hear you can get an excellent local version at Fante’s Coffee or The Comfy Cow.
